The National Lok Adalat will be organised on May 9 in all courts across the district under the guidance of District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Justice Dinesh P. Surana.
The drive is being conducted following directions from the National Legal Services Authority and the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority.Various pending and pre-litigation matters eligible for settlement through mutual compromise will be taken up during the Lok Adalat.
These include civil disputes, compoundable criminal cases, motor accident claim matters, matrimonial disputes, bank recovery cases and land acquisition matters.Special panels comprising judges, advocates and social workers will assist litigants during the proceedings.
Officials said no court fee is charged for cases resolved through Lok Adalat, and the decisions hold the same legal status as court decrees.District Legal Services Authority Secretary Pravin Unhale urged litigants to make use of the platform for quick and affordable settlement of disputes.
