Nagpur University (NU) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the MIDC Skill Development Centre to provide students with practical industrial training along with their academic education. The agreement was signed at the university’s Jamnalal Bajaj Administrative Building in the presence of vice-chancellor Manali Kshirsagar.
Under the partnership, students enrolled in professional courses will be able to undertake compulsory internships at the MIDC Skill Development Centre and receive academic credits for technical training. University authorities said the collaboration is intended to equip students with real-world industrial exposure and strengthen their practical and professional skills.
The programme will also be implemented through the university’s Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE), allowing students to take part in activities related to entrepreneurship, personality development, skill-building, and community service. Officials noted that the initiative would help reduce the gap between academic learning and industry requirements while encouraging leadership abilities, communication skills, and social responsibility among students.
Managed by EduSpark, the MIDC Skill Development Centre provides hands-on training in areas such as logistics, CNC programming, artificial intelligence and business intelligence, mobile device management, GST and Tally accounting, as well as refrigeration and air-conditioning assembly operations. Training in communication and soft skills is also offered at the centre.
According to officials, the centre’s placement cell supports trained students in finding employment opportunities in reputed industries across industrial zones. Dr Mankar said the collaboration is expected to create new career opportunities for students and contribute towards making Nagpur a major centre for skilled manpower development.
