The National Testing Agency (NTA) has activated a dedicated fee refund facility on the NEET-UG 2026 registration portal, allowing eligible candidates to submit their bank account details for the refund of examination fees. The agency has announced that the portal will remain active till May 27, 2026, up to 11:50 pm.
According to the NTA, candidates can access the refund link by logging into the NEET-UG registration portal using their credentials. Applicants are required to provide details such as account holder name, bank account number, and IFSC code for processing the refund. The agency has also given candidates the option to upload a cancelled cheque to ensure accuracy of bank details, although this is not mandatory.
The NTA clarified that once bank account details are submitted, they will be treated as final and no further changes will be allowed. Candidates have been advised to carefully verify all information before submission and follow the instructions mentioned in Annexure-I. The agency also urged candidates not to initiate any chargeback requests related to the examination fee.
The refund process comes in the backdrop of the NEET-UG 2026 controversy after allegations of paper leaks and irregularities led to the cancellation of the examination held on May 3. The issue triggered protests by students and parents and prompted multiple investigations, including a CBI probe. The re-examination is now scheduled for June 21 under enhanced security arrangements. Officials have also indicated that from next year, NEET-UG is likely to be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode to prevent such irregularities in future.
