Companies instructed to avoid artificial shortages
Nagpur District Collector Kumar Ashirwad has appealed to the citizens not to believe in any rumours as there is sufficient stock of petrol and diesel in the district.
He held a detailed review of the fuel supply in the district after discussing with senior managers and sales officers of oil companies.
He said that instructions have been given to the oil companies to ensure that no artificial shortage of fuel is created.
Regular fuel supply is being provided from Mumbai and other refineries. Therefore, District Collector Ashirwad appealed to the citizens not to panic and hoard fuel unnecessarily.
Company-wise current stock
There is sufficient fuel stock available in Nagpur district. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has 1265 kilolitres of petrol stock available at 99 petrol pumps in the district, which is enough for 4 days. Diesel stock is 1497 kilolitres, which is enough for 3 days. These pumps sell 301 kilolitres of petrol and 468 kilolitres of diesel per day.
The 143 petrol pumps of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in the district have a stock of 2494 kilolitres of petrol, which is enough for 6 days. The stock of diesel is 3830 kilolitres, which is enough for 4 days. These pumps sell 412 kilolitres of petrol and 930 kilolitres of diesel per day.
The 136 petrol pumps of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) in the district have a stock of 1280 kilolitres of petrol, which is enough for 5 days. The stock of diesel is 2050 kilolitres, which is enough for 4 days. These pumps sell 255 kilolitres of petrol and 510 kilolitres of diesel per day.
Fuel for agriculture will be available in cans after verifying identity. As a security measure, petrol pump drivers can supply fuel in any can other than vehicles for agriculture. Considering the provisions of the Petroleum Rules, 2002, while supplying diesel to farmers for agricultural work, a maximum of 40 liters of diesel can be supplied to them in a day by taking the farmers’ identity card (Satbara, Aadhar card).
To prevent anyone else from taking advantage of this, the RC book of the concerned vehicle will be recorded. Local police have been instructed to take precautions to avoid crowding and possible disputes at petrol pumps. It has been asked to keep the CCTV system at the pumps operational and keep an eye on suspicious movements.
It is the responsibility of the concerned petrol pump operators to strictly follow the rules and instructions.
The responsibility for strict compliance with the above provisions will remain with the concerned petrol pump owner and manager. Penal and criminal action will be taken against the person/organization violating this provision as per rules 198 to 202 of the Petroleum Rules, 2022 and the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005, District Collector Kumar Ashirwad has stated in his order.
Citizens should use fuel as required and responsibly, and regular maintenance of vehicles, proper tire pressure, and using vehicles only when necessary will help in saving fuel. The district administration has appealed to cooperate by following the instructions of the administration.
