Following the alert issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the deadly Ebola virus outbreak spreading through monkeypox-related viral disease concerns, vigilance has been intensified at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur. Health authorities have stepped up precautionary measures to prevent any possible entry of infected passengers into the city.
As per the directives of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, thermal screening and health monitoring of international passengers arriving at the airport have been intensified. Currently, international flight services from Doha and Sharjah are operational from Nagpur Airport.
These destinations are considered major transit hubs for passengers travelling from countries such as Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan, where Ebola-related concerns have been reported.Airport medical officials and aviation health authorities held a review meeting with airport authorities and operational departments to assess preparedness and strengthen surveillance mechanisms.
Officials stated that thermal screening of passengers is being carried out continuously.Passengers showing symptoms such as fever, weakness, vomiting, bleeding, or any signs associated with Ebola infection will be immediately isolated and kept under medical observation.
Authorities are also scrutinizing self-declaration forms submitted by travellers.Health officials said that all necessary arrangements have been made to handle any emergency situation and appealed to citizens not to panic, while advising international travellers to cooperate with health screening procedures.
