In a major breakthrough against Left Wing Extremism, the Gadchiroli Police and Narayanpur Police of Chhattisgarh jointly destroyed a Maoist arms manufacturing unit during an inter-state anti-Naxal operation conducted in a dense forest area along the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border.
The operation was launched on the basis of specific intelligence inputs received from surrendered Maoists. During the action, security forces recovered and destroyed a large quantity of Maoist materials at the spot.
Under “Operation Antim Prahar,” police teams seized a cache of weapons and ammunition hidden inside the forest. The recovered arms included one INSAS rifle, two single-shot rifles, two 12-bore rifles, along with 18 live cartridges.
According to officials, Maoists had been using the remote forest terrain in the border region to secretly manufacture, store, and bury weapons and explosive materials underground. These arms were allegedly intended for attacks on security forces during sensitive periods such as Naxal Week and elections.
Police stated that Maoist activities in Gadchiroli district have significantly weakened and are now nearing collapse due to continuous anti-Naxal operations and increasing surrender of cadres.
Following a similar action carried out on May 23, security forces once again achieved success on May 27 by recovering hidden Maoist materials from the forest region.
Officials said the operation reflects the growing coordination between Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh police forces in eliminating Maoist infrastructure and restoring peace in the region.
