Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized medicines worth ₹7,26,655 from a Patanjali-affiliated Divya Pharmacies outlet in Nagpur over misleading advertisements and unverified therapeutic claims.
The raid was carried out Friday afternoon by FDA’s Nagpur division team at a Divya Pharmacies franchise on Katol Road near Kamptee Chowk, acting on directions from FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe. Divya Pharmacy is the retail arm of Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali group.
The team seized stocks of multiple Divya Pharma products — including Nutrigold, Nempfit, Mupivit, Melastipt, and Sirctipt — totalling ₹7,26,655. The action was triggered by the company’s packaging and promotional material, which authorities said made unsubstantiated claims about ailments and treatments in violation of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act.
Samples of all seized medicines have been sent for laboratory analysis. Further legal action will follow depending on test results.
The Nagpur raid is part of FDA Commissioner Mundhe’s ongoing enforcement drive against misleading pharmaceutical advertising across Maharashtra. Patanjali has previously faced Supreme Court strictures over similar advertising violations.
