Both Qualify for National Under-7
Nagpur’s young chess talents, Miss Aditi Korde and Master Kunj Dewangan excelled in the H2e Power Systems Maharashtra State Under‑07 Chess Championship 2026, held at Sinhgad Institute, Vadgaon, Pune on 30th May and 31st May 2026. The event was organised by Aryans Chess Academy Pune recognised by Pune District Chess Circle and Maharashtra Chess Association to select Maharashtra Under-7 players for participation in the National Under-7 Chess Championship 2026 Nagpur.
Aditi finished Runners-Up in the Girls Group while Kunj finished 4th in Boys Group to qualify for the National Under-7 (Open and Girls) Chess Championship 2026 to be held at Nagpur from 30th June 2026 to 4th July 2026.
In the field of 72 participants in Girls Group from across Maharashtra, Aditi who was seeded 24th in the starting list scored an impressive 7 points out of 8 rounds to finish clear 2nd in the overall tally. The only loss for Aditi came from the ultimate winner of the Championship Ns Krishnan Liya from Mumbai. Aditi is taking coaching lessons from Nilesh Channawar of Brilliant Chess Academy.
Kunj Dewangam in the open group which had 178 entries started as 91st Seed. But after a loss in the first round itself, he scored 7 straight wins to finish joint second and thereby finished 4th in list based on application of tie break with 7 points to his credit from 8 rounds. Kunj is being trained by Chess Coach Gurmeet Singh Bagga.
By virtue of these performances, both Aditi and Kunj qualify for the National Under-7 Chess Championship representing Maharashtra.
The Chess Association Nagpur has congratulated Aditi and Kunj for the remarkable performances at Maharashtra State Under-7 Chess Championship and have extended Best wishes to them for the National Under-7 Championship being held at Nagpur.
