Nagpur has a reason to celebrate. Princess Mesham, a young woman from the city, has been selected to represent India at the World Bank Youth Summit 2026 in Washington D.C., scheduled for June 11 and 12. She is among only 300 delegates chosen from across the world for the prestigious event.
The World Bank Youth Summit is considered one of the most competitive international platforms for young leaders, bringing together students, researchers, entrepreneurs and young professionals from over 170 countries to deliberate on global economic and social development issues. This year’s theme focuses on creating digital-era employment through entrepreneurship, innovation, health care and sustainable development.
Mesham’s selection is rooted in her academic and professional credentials. She pursued quantitative business studies and economics at an American business school, and has previously been recognised at youth summits at the national level. She also served as associate director of an organisation founded by a Victoria Prize winner and has played a significant role in national-level youth leadership programmes, strengthening her reputation as a voice for young India on the global stage.
Her family background adds to the city’s pride — her parents, Dr. Chetan Shamkuwar and Dr. Sushant Mesham, are faculty at the Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur.
