A revenue official under the Bhivapur tehsil in Nagpur district has been suspended for dereliction of duty and breach of office discipline. Nagpur District Collector Kumar Ashirvad issued the suspension order on June 4 against Naresh Kumbhalkar, Mandal Officer of Kargaon, and ordered a departmental inquiry against him.
According to the tehsil office, multiple complaints had been received against Kumbhalkar for failing to attend to citizens’ work on time. In April 2026, Tehsildar and Taluka Election Officer Sanjay Rathod had appointed him as Election Deciding Officer for gram panchayat by-elections. However, Kumbhalkar allegedly went on unauthorised leave from April 1 and, despite repeated show-cause notices and warnings, avoided resuming duty.
He was subsequently assigned as a supervisor for the national Census exercise a responsibility he again failed to discharge, according to the suspension order.
