In a unique protest against administrative apathy, Congress corporator Gautam Ambade staged a demonstration at Kamal Chowk in North Nagpur by taking a bath in water accumulated on the road from a leaking pipeline.
According to Ambade, thousands of litres of clean drinking water have been going to waste from the damaged pipeline for several days. Despite repeated complaints to the Water Supply Department and OCW, no action was taken to repair the leak, prompting the corporator to adopt an unconventional mode of protest.By bathing in the stagnant water, Ambade sought to draw attention to what he described as the administration’s negligence and failure to prevent the wastage of a vital public resource.
The protest highlighted growing public frustration over the continued loss of drinking water and the authorities’ inaction.Local residents supported the protest, demanding immediate repairs to the pipeline and accountability from the concerned departments.
The incident has once again raised questions over the efficiency of the city’s water management system and the response of civic authorities to public grievances.
