Maharashtra Cyber has registered an FIR against stand-up comedian Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra, Dr. Sejal Pawar, and others for allegedly publishing and circulating obscene and objectionable content on social media platforms.
According to Maharashtra Cyber, the case relates to videos and clips from a programme hosted by Pranit More that were shared on YouTube, Instagram, and other online platforms. The content allegedly contained offensive remarks about women, consent, and deceased persons, attracting provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act.
The cyber agency stated that summons have been issued to the accused for inquiry and recording of statements. Officials said the investigation is ongoing and further legal action will be taken against those found responsible.
Maharashtra Cyber has also urged content creators and social media users to exercise caution while creating and sharing online content and warned against circulating material that violates the law.
