Thousands of yoga enthusiasts gathered at Yashwant Stadium in Nagpur on Sunday to celebrate International Yoga Day, jointly organized by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and the District Administration. The event was inaugurated by Mayor Neeta Thakre in the presence of senior civic officials, public representatives, police officers, and yoga practitioners.
The programme featured mass yoga sessions, demonstrations by young yoga performers, a unique Chakrasana race, and a pledge against drug abuse under the city police’s “Operation Thunder” campaign. Participants also received free saplings as part of NMC’s environmental conservation initiative.

Yoga experts urged citizens to make yoga a daily habit for better health and well-being. The event concluded with the felicitation of international yoga medalists, NCC cadets, and volunteers who contributed to environmental awareness campaigns across the city.
