A man posing as a police officer was arrested by Ajni Police after allegedly attempting to deceive a woman in the Shatabdi Chowk area of Nagpur.
The accused reportedly stopped the woman on the road, claimed to be a police officer, and tried to take away her jewellery and other valuables under the pretext of conducting a security check.The woman grew suspicious of his behaviour and immediately approached Ajni Police Station to lodge a complaint. Taking the matter seriously, police launched a swift investigation into the incident.
Using CCTV footage from the area and technical surveillance, investigators identified the suspect and tracked his movements. A trap was subsequently laid, leading to the accused being apprehended by the police.“Following the woman’s complaint, an immediate investigation was initiated.
The accused was impersonating a police officer and attempting to cheat citizens. He has been arrested and further investigation is underway,” police said.Police have urged citizens to remain alert against individuals falsely claiming to be law enforcement officers. They also appealed to the public to immediately contact the police if they encounter any suspicious person or activity.
