Heavy rainfall has washed away the temporary diversion road at the under-construction Savardoh Bridge on the Karanja–Savardoh road in Wardha district, cutting off road connectivity to nearly 10 to 12 villages and forcing residents to travel an additional 30 kilometres to reach Karanja.
Local residents have alleged that construction of the bridge has been progressing at a slow pace. The temporary access road, built by the contractor to facilitate traffic during the construction period, was swept away by heavy rains, bringing vehicular movement to a complete halt.
The affected villages depend heavily on Karanja town for essential services, healthcare, markets and other daily needs. With the direct route blocked, commuters are now compelled to take a much longer route, causing considerable inconvenience.Milk producers have been among the worst affected, as delays in transporting milk to collection centres have increased the risk of spoilage and financial losses.
The disruption has also come at a crucial time for farmers, who are engaged in sowing operations with the onset of the monsoon. Transporting seeds, fertilisers and agricultural equipment to the villages has become difficult, leading to delays, higher transportation costs and inconvenience for the farming community
