Mumbai Police have busted an alleged prostitution racket operating from a hotel in Girgaon and rescued two actresses during the raid.
According to police, one of the rescued women is a lead actress in Marathi films, while the other has worked in small roles in Bengali and Hindi films. Their identities have not been revealed.Police also arrested a suspected pimp, who is said to be a makeup artist linked to people in the film industry. The raid was carried out as part of the police’s ongoing action against human trafficking and illegal prostitution in the city.
Officials said the racket was being run from a hotel in Girgaon. They are now investigating the people involved and checking financial transactions, phone records and possible links to a larger trafficking network. Further legal action will be taken based on the investigation.
Earlier Raid in Navi Mumbai
This is the second major action against an alleged prostitution racket this year. In January, the Anti-Immoral Trafficking Department (AIITD) raided a lodge in Turbhe Naka, Navi Mumbai, and rescued seven women. Three people were arrested.Police said the women were allegedly forced into prostitution. A decoy customer was sent to confirm the illegal activity before the raid.Investigators claimed the accused arranged rooms for the women, fixed deals with clients and shared the money earned from the illegal business. Police also seized cash collected during the operation.
Investigation Continues
Mumbai Police and the Anti-Immoral Trafficking Department are continuing their crackdown on human trafficking and illegal prostitution across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.The investigation into the Girgaon case is still underway, and police said more action will be taken based on the findings.
