Senior IPS officer Vishwas Nangre Patil officially assumed charge as the new Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, on Monday afternoon. He took over the responsibilities from outgoing Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal during a formal handover ceremony held at the Police Headquarters in the presence of senior police officials.
Following the charge handover, Additional Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners, Crime Branch officers, and other senior officials welcomed the new Police Commissioner and extended their best wishes.
Nangre Patil later chaired his first review meeting with senior officers, where he held preliminary discussions on the city’s law-and-order situation, crime control, and policing priorities.
Speaking after assuming office, Vishwas Nangre Patil said that his immediate priority would be to conduct a comprehensive assessment of Nagpur’s policing system, crime patterns, and security challenges. He stated that an effective strategy would be formulated only after thoroughly understanding the city’s requirements.
Nagpur, the second capital of Maharashtra, holds immense political and administrative significance.
It is considered one of the state’s most sensitive cities from both governance and law-enforcement perspectives. Strengthening public safety, curbing crime, and maintaining law and order will be among the key challenges before the new Police Commissioner.
Known for his disciplined policing style and firm action against criminals, Vishwas Nangre Patil is expected to bring renewed energy and strategic reforms to the Nagpur Police. Citizens, along with the police force, are hopeful that his leadership will further strengthen the city’s security, improve policing efficiency, and reinforce public confidence in law enforcement.
