The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has expressed deep concern over the alleged theft of money from donation boxes at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, describing the incident as a serious blow to the faith and sentiments of millions of devotees.
In a statement issued on Friday, RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said the grand Ram Temple, built after generations of struggle and the sacrifice and dedication of millions of devotees, is a symbol of faith, devotion, and reverence for the entire Hindu community. He said the reported theft from the temple’s donation boxes has deeply hurt devotees across the country.
Hosabale noted that, following a request from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the Uttar Pradesh government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), and legal proceedings have begun based on its recommendations. He stressed that anyone found guilty during the investigation must face the strictest punishment.
The RSS also urged the temple trust to treat the incident as an extraordinary matter and take effective corrective measures to eliminate any shortcomings in the temple’s administration and management. It said transparency, sound financial management, and efficient governance are essential to preserving the faith and trust of millions of Ram devotees.
The organisation further expressed confidence that the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust would strengthen public confidence through transparent systems, proper financial oversight, and a spiritually pure environment.
Appealing to the Hindu community, the RSS urged people to remain patient and maintain restraint during this difficult period. It also cautioned against attempts by what it described as “anti-Hindu and anti-national forces” to exploit the incident to defame Hindu society and religion.
