The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has urged residents to exercise caution during the monsoon, warning that even minor negligence around electrical installations can prove fatal.
The appeal follows two fatal incidents in the city. On Wednesday night, an elderly woman, Afroz Begum, died after coming into contact with a snapped streetlight wire in the Tajabad area.
In another incident, a young man, Sandeep, was electrocuted while hanging wet clothes from a window in the MIDC area.In the wake of these incidents, MSEDCL has issued a set of safety guidelines and appealed to the public to follow them strictly.
The utility said power supply may be disrupted during the rainy season due to damaged insulators, fallen trees, or waterlogging, and urged people to remain cautious around electrical equipment and wires.
