After remaining shut for more than six years, the historic Kamgar Kalyan Swimming Pool in Raghuji Nagar will reopen on August 16, 2026, following extensive renovation. An inauguration ceremony will be held on Independence Day (August 15).
The pool, closed since the COVID-19 pandemic, underwent major repairs, including re-tiling, renovation of changing rooms, new plumbing, office construction, fresh paving, and installation of a modern filtration system with new chlorine cylinders to ensure clean and safe water.
Officials said the upgraded facility now meets modern standards and is ready to welcome swimmers again.
Training sessions will be held in two batches—from 6 am to 10 am and 5 pm to 8 pm—for beginners, recreational, and competitive swimmers. Special evening batches will be available for children. Three swimming coaches and a lifeguard will supervise the facility.
The pool has a rich legacy of nurturing talented swimmers, including para-swimmer Ishwari Pande, Rutuja Talegaonkar, and Himani Fadke, making it an important centre for swimming in Nagpur.
