Woman booked for producing fake bills to get back jewellery

A woman was booked by the Customs for presenting fake bills to get jewellery back from the authorities concerned. The accused Sangita Ramesh Chhetwani, 52, a resident of Shanti Vihar, Civil Lines by Sonegaon police.
According to police, Sangita landed at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport on September 11, 2017. She was coming from Doha, Qatar.
The customs found gold bangles weighing 51.54 gram worth over `1.41 lakh from her. She was not having any bill of the gold following which Customs seized the entire gold. A few days later, a man approached the customs department and produced a bill of Hyderabad based jewellery store Neelkanth Jewellers to claim the gold bangles.
He also show power of attorney given to him by Sangeeta to collect the bangles. The Customs officials handed over the gold bangles to him but after investigation the bill was found to be fake. This prompted Customs officials to lodge a complaint with the Sonegaon police. Further probe into the case is going on.
Rs 48K siphoned-off from Doc’s bank account
In a yet another incident of cyber theft, `48,000 were siphoned-off from the bank account of a physician. The victim, Dr Girish Komal Gautam, is a resident of Manjidana colony under Gittikhadan police station limits. Police said, the accused somehow cloned the ATM card of Dr Gautam and withdrew money.
The bank has set up a system in Raipur to detect cases of cyber fraud. Dr Gautam got a message through this centre about the fraud after which he lodged a complaint with the Gittikhadan police.
Women harassed by jilted lover
A woman was subjected to harassment by her jilted lover. The incident came to light at Gittikhadan police station, which has booked Akshay alias Ranvijay Shekhar Ganveer, 27, a resident of Cosmos Society, Somalwada.
According to police, the accused was facebook friend of the victim, a 39-year-old widow.
They first met online in January 2018. Akshay had sent a friend request to her, which she accepted. Later, chatting started between the two. With time, relation developed between the two. Recently, Akshay asked woman to marry him, but she refused.
Akshay, however, was adamant to marry her and exerted pressure upon her to marry him. The victim then complained her parents. However, Akshay was unmoved. He posted some objectionable photos of the victim on facebook and also threatened to kill her son. This prompted the victim to lodge a complaint with Gittikhadan police. Further probe is going on.
