World today needs peace, the way shown by Lord Gautam Buddha, and not war. Inspired by the same philosophy of peace, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar along with thousands of his followers embraced Buddhism at Deekshabhoomi. The memorial of Gautam Buddha and Dr Ambedkar will act as inspiration to spread Dr Ambedkar’s thoughts, said Union Minister for Road Transport and Shipping Nitin Gadkari.

He was speaking after dedicating the renovated memorial of Lord Gautam Buddha and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in Parsodi, Prabhag 37 to the public on Sunday. Leader of Ruling Party in Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Sandeep Joshi, Chairman; Laxminagar Zone; Prakash Bhoyar, Chairman; Education Committee; Dilip Diwe, Lahukumar Behte, Deputy Chairman; Sports Committee;  Pramod Tabhane, corporators Sonali Kadu, Pallavi Shyamkule, Meenakshi Telgote, former deputy mayor Rajabhau Lokhande, former pro-vice-chancellor Yoganand Kale, Rajiv Hadap, Ramesh Bhandari, Vivek Tarase, Chhotu Borikar, Anusaya Gupta, Sanjay Ugle, Renuka Ugle, Varsha Choudhari, Nitin Mahajan, Umesh Kadu, Surendra Pande, Ashish Pathak, Sachin Karadkar, Rajesh Gaikwad and Pankaj Mahajan were prominently present at the programme.

Dr Ambedkar’s thoughts and his works will be inspiring for generations to come, Gadkari remarked, adding the government has always come forward to develop his memorial. He himself made available funds for development and beautification of Deekshabhoomi. A museum of Dr Ambedkar’s belongings is being built with Central and State funds in Chicholi in addition to development of Dragon Palace in Kamptee, Gadkari informed.

The government has bought the house in London, where Dr Ambedkar stayed and it has been converted into memorial, he said. In addition, funds are being made available to make memorial at the place where Dr Babasaheb breathed his last in Delhi. The land of Indu Mill has already been made available for Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial with the initiative of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Gadkari said.

Dr Ambedkar was a world guru and to reach his thoughts and struggle and achievements world-wide, his memorial should also be world class, he opined saying the government is committed for the cause.

Pramod Tabhane delivered the introductory speech. Vimalkumar Shrivastav conducted the programme while Nitin Mahajan proposed a vote of thanks.
