Dr. Riya Waghale of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, Nagpur was recently awarded the Dr Vitthal Nadgouda Best All India Annual Thesis award – 2018. She received second prize for her work titled ‘Platelet volume indices and sub-clinical atherosclerosis in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus’, at APICON 2019 at Kochi.
She is the first postgraduate student from Nagpur to receive this prestigious award. She carried out her research work under the able guidance of Dr Rajashree Khot, Professor in Medicine. She was awarded a citation and a cash prize.
She acknowledges the support given by Professor and Head of the Dept of Medicine, Dr P P Joshi, Ex-Dean, Dr Vidya Shrikhande, and Dean of IGGMCH, Dr Ajay Keoliya, . She gives the credit of her success to her parents, Dr. Madan along with Namrata Waghale and her husband Dr. Varun Joshi.
