Manke bags triple crown in SJAN Media Badminton tournament

Navbharat’s Ameya Manke continued his dream run and bagged triple crown in Gaikwad-Patil International School-SJAN Media Badminton Tournament at Subhedar Hall, here on Tuesday.

The tournament was organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur in association with Department of Sports and Physical Education of RTM Nagpur.

Manke who already bagged men’s singles title, won men’s doubles and mixed doubles titles also. In the men’s doubles final pairing with Mahesh Sarangi he defeated Lokmat duo Ashish Jain-Pravin Kathane 21-12, 21-12. Then in the mixed doubles final, Ameya- Kajal Chopde  duo got the better of Suhas Nayse-Deblina Dasgupta of TOI 21-14, 21-10.

Principal of Gaikwad Patil International School Shabih Chaurasia, NDBA secretary Mangesh Kashikar distributed the prizes. Coordinator of Gaikwad Patil Group Preeti Kalbande, SSK Naidu and others were also present on the occasion. The winners were given cash prizes, trophies along with  T-shirts and kit bags sponsored by Yonex Sunrise.

Results

Men’s doubles semis: Ashish Jain-Pravin Kathane ( Lokmat) bt Suhas Nayse- Fakhruddin Bora (TOI) 21-12, 12-21, 21-8; Ameya Manke-Mahesh Sarangi (Navbharat) bt SS Ahmad- Farhan Qazi 21-7, 21-14.

Final: Ameya Manke-Mahesh Sarangi bt Ashish Jain-Pravin Kathane 21-12, 21-12.

Mixed doubles final: Ameya Manke- Kajal Chopde (Navbharat) bt Suhas Nayse-Deblina Dasgupta (TOI) 21-14, 21-10.
