Vidarbha protagonists to observe Maharashtra day as black day

The protagonists of separate Vidarbha have decided to observe Maharashtra day which falls on May 1 as black day to protest against the non-creation of Vidarbha State. Vidarbha Connect president Adv Mukesh Samart told a press conference, here today that the then Vidarbha region was merged with Maharashtra on May 1, 1960 with a promise to develop the region and removal of financial and developmental backlog.

He said during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP leaders from Vidarbha region had promised to curve out Vidarbha state from Maharashtra but surprisingly did not initiate any concrete steps in this direction. The problems of farmers, tribal and unemployed youths will not be solved unless separate Vidarbha was created.

Founder president of Vidarbha Connect Advocate Shrihari Aney who is also former Advocate General will hoist the Vidarbha flag at Vidarbha Chandika Mandir at Shahid Chowk in Itwari in Eastern Part of city, Samarth said.

Earlier a cycle rally will be taken out from RBI square to Chandika Mandir in the morning. The sit in agitation will continue till evening, he added. Advocate Neeraj Khandewale and Sandesh Singalkar were also present on the occasion.
