Nagpur district boys and girls teams made it to the quarterfinals in the Maharashtra Under-16 State Inter-District Basketball Championship being played at Satara on Saturday.
In the last league match, Nagpur boys overcame hosts Satara 65-53. The quarterwise scores were 12-8, 11-11, 14-13, 28-21.
Adwait Jagtap (22) and Tanuk Gurnule (18) were the chief architects of Nagpur win. For Satara, Kumar Gadge (21) and Laukik Ingle (13) fought hard but lacked support from others.
After winning both their opening round games Nagpur girls also qualified for the quarterfinals. In the girls section, both Nagpur and Thane have won their respective two games against the other teams in the pool — Dhule and Nashik.
The quarterfinals will be played on Sunday morning followed by the semifinals later in the evening.
