Odisha’s Upadhyay sole leader

At the end of seventh round Odisha’s IM Anwesh Upadhyay of Odisha emerged as sole leader after seventh round in Raisoni Memorial FIDE Rating Chess Tournament organised by Kalpana Prakash Foundation at Dr Ambedkar Institute of Management, Deekshabhoomi on Wednesday.  Upadhyay was folllowed by Indrajeet Mahindrakar with 6.5 points to his credit in the seventh round, Upadhyay outclassed city’s IM Anup Deshmuh on top board in a Sicillian Defence English attack game of 28 moves.

Deshmukh missed a queen move and Anwesh took advantage of the error and won the game in 28 moves. On second board, FM Saurabh Kherdekar drew his game against IM Rajesh VAV. Indrajeet Mahinderkar of Aurangabad lost to IM Praveen Kumar C of ICF in a bishop knight end game of 78 moves with two rounds to go. The eighth round will be played on Thursday from 9.30 a.m. onwards.

IM Anwesh Upadhyaya (7)bt IM Deshmukh Anup (6), FM Sauravh Khherdekar (6) drew with IM Rajesh V A V (6), Mahindrakar Indrajeet (6.5) bt IM Praveen Kumar C (5), Pandey Srishti F 6) bt Buxy Rajanikant (5), Giri Abhishek (5) lost to Saypuri Srithan (6), Bhagyashree Patil (6) bt Prerak Jayant Darvekar (5), Gawai Siddhant (6) bt Doshi Khush (5), Patil Priyanshu (5.5) drew with Priyansh Sahu (5.5), Dande Vyankatesh S (5) Wairagade Khush (6), Shinde Rujul (4.5) lost to FM Navalgund Niranjan (5.5), Kherdekar Arnav (5.5) lost to FM Vinoth Kumar M.  (5.5), Raunak Godbole (5) drew with AIM Abhay Bandewar (5), Krishna Karthik N (5.5) bt  Manthan Vijayrao Kale (4.5), Khamele Ojas (5) drew with Shahane Omkar (5), Vinay Barhanpure (5.5) bt Lonkar Parth (4.5), Bakshi Mandar (4.5) lost to Ranade Mayank (5.5).
