Ritika wins another mixed doubles badminton title - The Live Nagpur
City shuttler Ritika Thaker  won her second consecutive mixed doubles title in All India Junior Ranking Badminton Championship at Sports Hub, Green Field Stadium in Trivendrum.
Since this was a selection tournament she had to fight for the third place in the girls doubles. In the first match of the day against Trisha Hedge and Arya Shetty. Ritika and her partner Simran Singhi wrapped up the first game 21/15, the opponents fought back in the second game and won 21/18, in the decider Ritika and Simran raised their game  and wrapped up the third game 21/17 to claim the bronze medal the match lasted one hour and four mins.
Later within a hour she was on the court again in the mixed doubles finals where  they face second seeds Edwin Joy and Shruti Mishra, Ritika and Dingku lost the first game 16/21 they got their act together and started playing aggressive badminton and won the next two games 21/12 and 21/15 to claim the title. This match lasted one hour and eight mins.
Speaking from Trivendrum Ritika said she was satisfied with her performance especially today where she won both her matches. She put certain plans in place during the matches and execute them well with her partners in both the events. Further she said that she was very happy with her endurance and fitness as both the matches went above an hour and it was difficult to keep up due to the weather here.
She was happy she could perform and give desired results. She had thanked her parents for their support and coaches Robin sir and Ajay sir for their untiring efforts , NDBA and MBA, Hislop college for the continues support. She also said as this was the selection tournament this would brightened her chances to get into the Indian team for the Asian Badminton Championships to be held later this year.
Ritika is a student of Hislop college and trains under Ajay Dayal at Ajay Dayal Badminton Academy at YMCA and under Robin Simon.
