One of the biggest firms in the food delivery business Zomato is facing a bit of trouble as the food delivery boys refuse to work on June 15 due to a hike in target and less salary.
City’s Zomato delivery boys on Saturday were seen riding on their vehicles in a group, especially in the areas such as Bajaj Nagar, Dharampeth and Ambazari Road after which they gathered in front of the main office of Zomato in Shankar Nagar demanding justice.
One of the delivery boys, on condition of anonymity, said that recently Zomato increased our target of food delivery and gradually decreased their salary. Looking into the injustice they decided to launch a strike in the city.
The agitation is being done for simplified working patterns; the delivery boys jointly gathered at the main office demanding to bring back the target deliveries to 16-18 per day.
According to the food delivery boys, the new rules set up by Zomato are forcing them to complete 22 food deliveries in a day and that too with a lowered salary on per order.
The boys further mentioned that during the scorching heat wave and sudden showers of rains two to three food delivery boys lost their lives while completing the order.
All such incidents happen as they strive hard to complete the order on time to gather more incentives. Many times, the customer ratings are not added in the incentives and are ignored by the higher authorities. The company often includes new rules which creates a problem for us and ignore our problems.
The authorities deliberately have increased the target and all we want is to decrease out per day target plus increase the incentives given on per order.
