MoU inked between AIIMS Nagpur and VNIT Nagpur

All India Institute of Medical Sciences Nagpur (AIIMS-Nagpur) and Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote an institutional linkage and to explore avenues for possible collaboration in research and training in the various areas of engineering and medical sciences.

The MoU signing event was conducted at VNIT Nagpur on June 18, 2019. The Director & CEO AIIMS Nagpur, Maj Gen Dr Vibha Dutta SM, and Prof. Pramod M. Padole, Director VNIT signed the MoU on behalf of respective institutions.

The MoU will benefit both the institutes by conducting joint research activities and exchanging academic materials between medical and engineering, two diverse streams of science. It will pave the way for the mutual visits of students and academic and administrative staff between the two institutions for sharing the knowledge and experiences.

Under this MoU, both the institutions will develop joint teaching and research projects in the future. The visiting scientists will be given an appropriate workplace with ancillary equipment. Other aspects in this MoU include: Implementing joint projects and bilateral sharing experiences, collaborate in education of students and young scientists, mutual use of research laboratories, undertaking need-based Projects, mutual visits to experience the real-life work situations, agreement of confidentially and intellectual property rights. It was discussed there is a need for establishment of a joint working group to manage and execute the cooperative activities mentioned in this MOU.  The MoU between the two institutions is for two years and can be renewed further.

 

Speaking about the collaboration, Prof. Pramod M. Padole, Director, VNIT Nagpur, said in a release: VNIT Nagpur is been involved with biomedical research since long and this MoU will enable to understand the need-based problems and ideas from medical doctors in better way and mutual solutions and developed products will help the patients and society.

In this event, Maj Gen Dr. Vibha Dutta SM, Director & CEO, AIIMS-Nagpur, further added, engineering and medical sciences are two diverse fields, one deals with machine and other with human, but human body is a machine in itself. And collaborating with the VNIT will help to understand the human body and human research from a fresh new engineering perspective. This MoU will spur the collaboration with VNIT to a higher plane and will enable bilateral exchange of ideas, laboratories and researchers for the betterment of science and ultimately mankind.

This event was attended by Prof. Dr. Mrunal Phatak (Coordinator) and Dr. Prathamesh H Kamble, Assistant Professor from AIIMS Nagpur and from VNIT side Dr. S.R.Sathe, Registrar, Dr. G.P.Singh, Dean (P & F), Dr. S.B.Thombre , Dean (Acad), Dr. Shital Chiddarwar, Associate Dean (International Affairs), Dr. Rashmi Uddanwadiker (Coordinator).
