RSS row: Students’ leaders burn effigy of VC

The NSUI and Nationalist Students Congress burnt the effigy of vice chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University Dr. SP Kane to protest against the varsity’s decision to include a chapter on RSS in BA second year.

Members of the Nationalist Youth Congress and Youth Congress also took part in the demonstration. They urged the university administration to remove the chapter on RSS from the curriculum of BA immediately. They also threatened to intensify the agitation if their demand is not fulfilled.

State Vice President of NSUI Abhishek Singh, State general secretary of Youth Congress Ajit Singh and district president of Nationalist Youth Congress Shailendra Tiwari led the demonstration.

The history of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and its role in nation-building has been included in the syllabus of a university-based in Nagpur, where the Sangh has headquarters.
