Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari’s dream to make Nagpur an education hub is coming true as the first step of the dream has been achieved with the inauguration ceremony of Symbiosis International (Deemed) University in the city.
CM along with Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the auspicious lamp. Finance Minister, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Guardian Minister, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mayor Nanda Jhichkar and Chairman of Editorial Board of Lokmat media and other were present at the occasion.
Spread in 75 acres, Symbiosis campus is situated at Wathoda, East Nagpur. The project was completed in mere time span of 12 months. The 400 crore campus has 10 building in all. According to the reports, NMC has given the land on lease to the university while the project approval was given by state cabinets.
Speaking at the occasion, CM, said that, “youth power can be transformed into human resources only through quality education from prestigious education centres like Symbiosis”. “World class educational institutions should come to Nagpur for making this city an educational hub of the country,” he added.
Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari said “Symbiosis is another feather in the cap in city’s progress in academic sector. It is the policy of the University that 25 % of the total seats will be reserved for Nagpur students and also a waiver of 15 % in the fees would be given to the students of the Nagpur. An amount of RS 20 crores has been sanctioned to build concretised roads approaching the university.”
Further speaking on the development plans of Nagpur, Gadkari informed that efforts are on for creating 50,000 jobs in MIHAN in next 5 years. HCL would be giving employment to 10,000 youth in 3 years. Production of Aviation, Dassault and Falcon aircraft spare part is continuing in the city. The sports authority of India would be starting a complex on 120 acres near Symbioses and will help in changing the face in east Nagpur.”
Gadkari urged the institution to include aviation courses in their offered courses as new international airport would be established which would increase the cargo and logistic hub areas which not help create new opportunities but will also be a major step in the developmental process of the city”.
