Patients get soaked in Medical as roof of the wards leak

Last year, after torrential rains, Medical’s accident department, wards on ground floor and operation theatre were inundated due to which the patients were shifted to other wards. Despite this contingency, the building department did not take any measures.

This year, the scenario of the medical was worst as the patients of the ward numbers 17, 18, 35 and ENT were getting drenched under the leaking roofs.

Patients are exposed to the risks of many waterborne diseases as pools of water have formed in the wards. Heavy rains of five or six hours duration is sufficient to inundate Medical and this is continuing since many years.

Since last three years the hospital has been facing a serve problem of water logging. The situation is very unpleasant as the wards are filled with knee deep water which ultimately paves way for many haphazard diseases.

However the sweepers and cleaners of the hospital made sure to clear the mess of the wards and make it a clean place for the patients and their family members. After which the services in the ward were resumed in the afternoon.

After many complaints from the staff and workers, the authorities had decided to lay a large diameter pipe which stopped the water from seeping inside the hospital. However due to leaking roof, patients were soaked till bones and pool of water was accumulated in the wards.

The sanitation employees kept buckets under the leaking roof and tried to restrain the damage from getting worst.

It should be noted that even though the authorities of the medical hospital are getting heft funds for the maintenance purpose the patient’s health was neglected and risked.
