With only few days left for our 73rd Independence Day, the NMC officials are all set to celebrate this day with great fervor. This time the happiness and the spirits are high as the Indian Government rules out article 370 for Kashmir.
Various programmes are organized across the city for the I-Day celebration, but this year special attention is given towards the disposal of the soiled national flags which loiter on the streets of the city the next day.
This act of insult towards our national flag is not accepted and measures are been taken by NMC officials to make sure that this year no such acts are reported.
District Collector, Ashwin Mudgal has appealed the citizens of Nagpur city to make sure that our National Flag is given the utmost respect and is not insulted by throwing them on the streets. Citizens and students many a times unknowingly insult the national flag on various national occasions.
High court has already ruled out the use of plastic and paper flags in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL). According to the government resolution, instructions have been issued to take strict action against the manufacturers, sellers and distributors of plastic/paper national flags.
Mudgal further informed that specific directions have been given to concern authorities to collect the soiled flags in cloth bag or sheets after the sunset and before the sunrise in the collector’s office or tehsil offices under the supervision of senior officers so they can be disposed of in clean space respectfully.
Mudgal has also urged social organizations, citizens and students to come forward and stop such act of defamation of our Tricolor.
