Zaid & Paarth of CPS Katol Road win Design Championship – 2019

Mohammed Zaid Shaikh and Paarth Maheshwari of Std 8th from Centre Point School, Katol Road have brought laurels to the school by winning a trophy for their Game Design in the Senior category (13 to 16 yrs) at the ‘Design Championship 2019’ held in Hyderabad on 20th Aug’19. The team of two was adjudged as ‘Winners’ by the jury from among 75 teams from top schools of the country and Hyderabad city which is one of the IT hubs of the country.

After this triumphant win, they have secured a chance to showcase their game at the ’11th India Game Developers Conference’ a prestigious event organised annually by NASSCOM to be held in Hyderabad on 22nd & 23rd Nov’19 where they will get exposed to brainstorming sessions and guidance from the industry experts.

‘Design Championship’ is an inter-school competition open for students from all over the country. It encourages them to think out of the box and prepare for the future by emphasizing on finding solutions for real life problems. It is a diverse yet fun filled and beneficial form of learning. Using the 21st century tools the students use visual prototypes to develop their creative thinking, effective communication, problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills.

The motivation and inspiration to work harder this year came from the last year’s win, where they were declared ‘Runners up’ for their game design in the junior level in Mumbai 2018. The duo in spite of being the youngest in their senior group, went ahead confidently and designed a game named ‘SNAP’ on the software Scratch 3.0 on the given theme ‘Surprise’ in the given time limit-a week. The game had 6 different levels that were full of surprises and unexpected elements at every level. They dedicate their success to the Principal, teachers and their parents.
