Khadi is a handwoven cloth which gain popularity during the freedom movement, but for Mahatma Gandhi khadi was an idea of self-reliance freedom from oppression & economic liberation. Even today khadi cluster give employment to over 20 lack people. VIA lady’s entrepreneur’s wing has recently organized ‘Abhinav’ khadi fashion show. This was the third consecutive year for the event and a celebration of 150 years of birth anniversary of Bapu. The main objective of organising the event was not only to promote budding designers of the region but to create awareness about the khadi.
It’s an attempt to show new creative & innovative trends. Generally, people think khadi is boring, but khadi was always a beautiful fabric the problem was with its perception. The fabric is now getting a makeover as a smart, classy option. Thanks to all the creative minds.
Winners of the khadi fashion show are, winner Tantu Shri Asi Vidya Hath Kargha Prakalp, 1st runner up Simplicity creative house by Durgesh, 2nd runner up Pal creations by simple Chatwal. VIA LEW chairperson Rita Lanjewar gave the welcome remarks. Abha Choudhury, Ekta Bhaiya & Madhubala Singh judged the show. Program was sponsored by Batukbhai, Rokde jewellers, Utter Dakshin, Vicco, Akshay opticals.
Shachi Malik, Yogita Deshmukh, Poonam Lala, Chitra Parate worked hard for the success of the event. Program was conducted by Neelam Bowade and vote of thanks was given by Manisha Bawankar.
