Advent of very remarkable GST Regime coupled with the globalisation of businesses and commercial operations, complexities and change in the international legal frameworks, role of Chartered Accountants has become all the more important and encompassing.”, remarked CA Prafulla Chhajed, Honorable President, ICAI.

CA Prafulla Chhajed, was deliberating as Chief Guest, on the occasion of `Full Day Workshop on GST’, organized by the Nagpur Branch of WIRC of ICAI. He informed the members present that, in its commitment to take forward its mission of inclusive growth and further empowering students, the ICAI has taken a major decision to waive-off 75% registration fee for the students registering from the newly formed Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and also from 8 North-Eastern States, for all level of CA Course. Also one Representative Office of the Institute is planned at Union Territory of Ladakh, he added.

Chief Guest, CA Prafulla Chhajed, conveyed in crystal clear terms that for ensuring due credibility to the certification and attest functions by CA Members, concept of UDIN has been successfully implemented. Also, Unique Document Identification Number (UDIN) which now happens to be the registered trade mark of the ICAI, is gaining acceptability in business and industry as a tool to bring authenticity to the certificates and other prescribed documents, issued by the Chartered Accountants, he added. It also has been able to virtually eliminate any misrepresentation by a third person claiming to be a Chartered Accountant and signing financial documents/certificates to mislead the authorities and stakeholders, he added.

CA Prafulla Chhajed, conveyed about the steps and initiatives taken for creating newer opportunities for the Small and Medium practitioners, and providing knowledge enrichment and growth avenues for all professionals. He ensured the members present to keep no stone unturned in the matter of empowering the members with respect to extending education and knowledge in the required areas including the Goods & Service Tax Act. He congratulated the Team Nagpur Branch ably led by CA Suren Duragkar, Chairman, for their untiring efforts in the matter of serving members and students concerned and in the process helping the Institute itself, in executing the policy decisions aimed at lending upper edge to CA members of the Institute. He assured all possible help from Central Level for Nagpur Branch, to serve for the betterment of profession. He appealed the members present to play our due role in the matter of Swacch Bharatof the Government of India. He concluded sharing his words of wisdom by adding that our remarkable track-record as a partner in nation building, sincerely necessitates that we all should contribute our individual as well as collective might, to make this initiative a grand success.

CA Jaydeep Shah, Hon. Past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. He whole heartedly shared words of appreciation for the President, CA PrafullaChhajed, for the long list of activities and initiatives, he has taken for the sake of CA Members and students as well. He extended his words of praise for the untiring efforts of Nagpur Branch in organizing various programs at frequent intervals including the one with respect to updating members to effectively serve the clients in the matter of GST Compliances.

CA Abhijit Kelkar, RCM, took the opportunity to extend warm welcome to the Hon. President ICAI and the members present. He updated the members with respect to the happenings at Regional Level, for the benefit of members and students of the fraternity. He wished all success to the Team Nagpur, for carrying their endeavours, before concluding his remarks on the occasion.

CA Suren Duragkar, in extended warm welcome to the Hon. President of ICAI and appreciated his efforts to strengthen the image of the Profession. He said that after 2013, president of ICAI  is visiting Nagpur first time. He could not stop himself from sharing that, right from the day when he took charge as Chairman of Nagpur Branch, he was having a feeling of gracious presence of none other than ICAI President, in the month of October, to address the audience in a very crucial seminar on GST. The same happened because of the sincere wish for the CA Members of Nagpur Branch, he added. Adding words to his deliberation, he briefed the President and members present about the due efforts of Team Nagpur to ensure best possible service to the fraternity. He duly expressed his gratitude to the speakers being CA Bimal Jain from New Delhi and CA Venugopal G. from Bengaluru, for agreeing to share their rich treasure of experience and knowledge in the most happening field of GST. He appealed the members present to take maximum benefits from the deliberations of the speakers and wished them a joyful and effective learning sessions.

On the occasion of mega event, Nagpur Branch released its updated Directory of 2500 Plus members at the auspicious hands of CA Prafulla Chhajed, Hon. President ICAI. CA Julfesh Shah, former Vice Chairman WIRC, played his role as Convenor of Directory Committee for ensuring team efforts in the matter of compiling relevant information of members. Members were happy to find the much needed `Thread of Communication` in the form of Nagpur Branch Directory which will ensure effective communication amongst themselves and with the concerned stake holders relying on the services of Chartered Accountants.

CA Bimal Jain from New Delhi, a very sought after Faculty for GST, very effectively dealt with the topic – `GST Burning Issues and way forward’. He shared his rich treasure of knowledge and compelled the audience to stay sited at their respective places, during his effective deliberation with respect to prevailing provisions to comply with of the GST Laws, which ran for more than 2 hours.

CA Venugopal G. from Bengaluru, also played his role effectively and lent due updation to the knowledge bases of delegates with respect to the journey of the Act, so far. He along with Mr. Jain, resolved the querries of members very effectively, in the Question Answer session.

Taking the opportunity, inauguration of newly renovated `Loya Bagri ITT Lab’, was effected at the auspicious hands of CA Prafulla Chhajed, Hon. President ICAI. The said inaugural was conducted by CA Harish Rangwani, Executive Committee Member.

CA Kirit Kalyani, Vice Chairman of the Branch, very effectively coordinated the inaugural event for the Full Day Workshop on GST, which proved very beneficial for the 250 odd members present on the occasion.

Technical sessions were coordinated by CA Jiten Saglani, Treasurer and CA Akshay Gulhane, Executive Committee member. Vote of Thanks was duly proposed by CA Saket Bagdia, Secretary of the Branch.

Prominently present on the occasion were CA Rajesh Loya, CA. Mahesh Rathi,CA Anil Parakh, CA Kailash Jogani, CA. Sudhir Surana, CA Kavita Loya, CA Satish Sarda and a large gathering of CA Members.
