The construction of ‘Amar Jawan Shaheed Memorial’, which was being constructed on behalf of the former Soldiers’ Association, was completed at Nagpur Municipal Corporation at Ajni Chowk.
The program organized was attended by Corporator Laxmi Yadav, Brigadier Sunil Gavapande, Major Hemant Jakate, Sulbha Jakate, Air Force Association President Manohar Bhatkulkar, Major Prabhakar Puranik, retired Regional Transport Officer Sharad Jichkar, Ram Korke, Shila Tale, Lina Belkhode, Mahesh Ambokar, Vilas Davne and other were prominently present.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Nanda Jichkar said, “The immortal Jawan martyr memorial which will be installed on this site will be inspiring for the citizens of Nagpur. Nagpur Municipal Corporation is commemorating the martyrs for their services. She assured the ex-servicemen that if there were problems with the construction of the memorial or if there was any help at the municipal level, NMC will always extend their helping hands.
At this time Major Hemant Jakate expressed his gratitude towards NMC. He thanked the Municipal Corporation for respecting the feelings of the ex-servicemen and for providing space for installing the immortal Jawan martyr memorial. Bhoomipujan was carried out by the hands of Mayor Nanda Jichkar.
Arun Fale, Jayashree Pathak, Sunita Kumbhare, Jaya Chafle, Sanjivani Yevle, Ashok Savarkar, Arun Morchapure, Omprakash Shirpurkar, Srikant Gangadhale, Sunil Rachlawar, Prabhakar Gavhan, Sachin Khedikar, Pundalik Sawant, Staff and citizens were present in large numbers.
