Rotary Club of Nagpur’s organized 34th annual pilgrimage pilgrimage to the Lok Biradari Prakalp, Hemalkasa began on the Jan 16

As soon as the team reached preoperative assessment of the patients began by the surgeons and anesthetist. Patients were short listed for surgery and operations began in true earnest the next day.

A total of 108 ophthalmic surgeries were done which included cataract operations and pterygium excisions. 78 Major surgeries general surgeries were performed which included pediatrics surgery, plastic surgery, obstetrics and gynecologic surgery.Dr Surjit Hazra with his Team is rendering his services to Hemalkasa for last so many years. The doctor’s team from Nagpur included general surgeons, plastic surgeons, pediatrics surgeons, gynecologists, anesthetists, pathologists, ophthalmologists, operation theatre assistants and blood bank technician.

A large team of Rotarians and Anns helped in the smooth organising functioning of the camp. Lifeline

Blood Bank provided the necessary blood unit for the camp.Dr Dighant Amte, Dr Anagha Amte and the team at Hemalkasa did all the necessary screening of patients for the camp.

The tribal patients benefited greatly and were relieved after their surgeries. The camp was supported by Mahindra Rise and Dinshaw’s.On the non- medical side to commensurate the Club’s 75th Year a special Marathon was organized for more than 500 children. Dressed in neon green T-shirts (courtesy RCN), the children lit up the beautiful surroundings. The winners were later felicitated with medals, certificates and prizes.

A special Langar was organized for the relatives of patients and inmates for 2 days. The Langar was served by the Rotarians.

A fun Fete was also organized for more than 800 children of the school at the Prakalp. Fun games, music and food were enjoyed by one and all. Dr Prakash and Dr Manda Tai inaugurated the Fete. A

Craft session was conducted for 100 children. ‘Annadan’ was also a part of the event.

President of Rotary club Parag Parajpe , Sectary Namita Sharma , Joint Sectary (Director Non medical) Sonia Khurana and (Director Medical) Dr Shantanu Sengupta worked very hard for the success of this project .
