The Railwaymen’s School which imparts education to many underprivileged students in Ajni area is now facing a big existential threat due to the proposed Inter Modal Station in Ajni Railway Colony Area. And there is no information about where this school will be shifted due to which the future of the education of the poor children is also uncertain. As per information, the Railwaymen’s School was formed for Marathi speaking children in 1933 before independence.
The primary school was commenced and with time the number of students increased and education upto high school began. The school got recognition for education up to Standard X in 1952.The students of this school have excelled in medical, engineering, management, politics to movies and proved their mettle in overseas also. Along with children of railway employees, children of rickshaw drivers, private and government employees in Jatrarodi,Indira Nagar,Rambagh,Medical.Chhoti Dhantoli,Parvati Nagar,Ramai Nagar,Vishwakarma Nagar and other areas are studying in this school. Padmakar Telang ,Principal of the school said that they cannot oppose the project of administration. But it is necessary that uncertainty about school should be cleared. At a time when education has become costly, this school is very important for hundreds of students from rural areas nearby. And they expect the existence of the school should remain.
