COVID patients admitted to private hospital with travel history to UK, Middle East must inform authorities- NMC

Following the December 21 order given by Nagpur Municipal Corporation to impose night curfew in the city from 11 pm to 6 am till January 5 on the pretext of the fast-spreading variant of Covid-19 in U.K which is believed to be upto 70% more transmissible than the original stain.

The Government of Maharashtra on December 21 also issued orders and Standard Operating Procedure (S.O.P.) for passengers arriving from Europe, South Africa & Middle East Countries. Adding new tactics to curb the spread in the latest order Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B has directed that:

  1. All Covid positive patients approaching private hospitals shall be asked to submit a declaration regarding their travel history during last three weeks and such patients with travel history from Europe, South Africa & Middle East Countries shall be referred to a special ward for such Covid patients at Government Medical College Hospital, Nagpur.
  2. Names of any Covid positive patients admitted/approached in private hospitals with travel history from Europe, South Africa & Middle East Countries, during the last 3 weeks shall be reported to Dr. Sanjay Chilkar (Mob No. 9404824848) Medical Officer, NMC, Nagpur.

All concerned Private Hospitals / Authority / Departments are hereby directed to make the strict and time-bound & effective compliance of this order.

In another development, NMC also gave permission to Hotels and restaurants to remain open till 11 pm during the extended lockdown period.
