Sejal Bhutada halted the dream run of Akshat Dakshindas to grab the Under-14 title in the Home Tennis tournament, organized by the Nagpur District Hardcourt Tennis Association, which concluded at the MSLTA courts in Ram Nagar here on Sunday.
In the well-contested U-14 final of mini best of 3 sets, Sejal Bhutada downed Akshat Dakshindas in straight sets 4-2, 4-2.
The match was full of baseline volleys and beautiful drop shots at the net. Both players gave their best but in the end, Sejal proved she is the superior player and won the match and the tournament.
The prize distribution was held immediately after the finals. Vijay Naidu, hon treasurer, NDHTA, gave away the trophies to the winners and runners-up. He also congratulated the NDHTA team of coaches for their efforts and teamwork in organizing the first-ever home tournament.
On popular demand, another tournament will be played in the month of February in two different categories which will be announced soon.
