Almost 2,300 cases in city today, despite lockdown

Despite imposition of restrictions on movement of people, closure of markets, shops and establishments, private offices, restaurants etc for the last three days, the number of Corona positive cases has continued to rise. On Monday 2,297 positive cases were reported in Nagpur, 45 more that reported on Sunday.

Similar change has been observed all over Vidarbha. In Wardha the cases have risen to 366 (yesterday only 4), Bhandara has reported 82, which is more than double of the Sunday’s figure of 40. In Gondia 48 new cases have been recorded compared to 30 yesterday. Only a slight dip is seen in Gondia and Gadchiroli. Gondia’s number has come down to 65 from 70 yesterday and Gadchiroli has 16, which is six lesser than yesterday’s figure.

Thirteen deaths have been reported from Vidarbha region. This includes 12 from Nagpur and one in Gondia.

The consistent rise in COVID 19 positive figures is an indication that the virus is spreading with a faster pace. Secondly, people are blatantly violating the rules made to control the spread.  Even when more number of vaccination centers been opened, tests have increased, the number of positive cases is also going up during the last one month. It has gained pace in the last few days with addition of over 200 persons everyday.

The situation is alarming and threat of total lockdown looms large on the entire region. Traders have suffered losses, daily wagers are suffering, losses in earning have resulted in rise in cases of suicide.

The streets are deserted during day time. However, in the evening people can be seen moving without caring for the threat on lives of entire society.
