Now no need for consent form before taking ‘Covaxin’ Jab

The need for a consent form while administering the Covaxin vaccine is now eliminated after the vaccination centers in the State received an official letter. The official letter from the Health and Family Welfare Department instructed the vaccination centers to administer Covaxin without any consent form. Recent speculations that the Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin vaccination can get rid of consent form on the lines of Serum Institute’s Covishield now seem true.

The step to eliminating the consent form can be a positive step in fighting the coronavirus as this will save time and energy. Cutting off the need for consent form will allow Covaxin the get available in more number of vaccination centers. It will also ease down the burden of maintaining sheets and records of the data of consent form on the vaccination center administration.

Earlier in January, when Covaxin was rolled out for the public, beneficiaries receiving ‘Covaxin’ were to fill out a consent form, which assured medical care and compensation if any adverse effect was found linked to the Covid-19 vaccine. The need for this consent form is eliminated now after this step by the State Health Department.
