S.B. Jain Institute of Technology, Management & Research Receives Autonomous Status

 S.B. Jain Institute of Technology, Management & Research, Nagpur has added another feather in its cap. The college has been conferred with ‘Autonomous’ status by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi & Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), Nagpur. The college received a letter of confirmation for autonomy status by UGC, New Delhi as per the meeting held on  February 13, 2021.

“It has opened a lot of opportunities for us. Autonomy will enable us to make our students industry ready and hence more employable,” said . Anuj Badjate, Secretary, Sir Shantilal Badjate Charitable trust.

UGC peer team chaired by Dr. Prof. D.S. Chauhan, Former Vice-Chancellor, Uttar Pradesh Technical University, & currently Pro-Chancellor, GLA University Mathura, visited the institute on January 23rd & 24th January 2021, and took the decision of granting autonomous status to the Institute for a period of 10 years from the session 2020-2021.

During the two-day visit, the committee inspected & evaluated the institute on parameters such as Academic Excellence, Research & Development, Industry Institute Interaction, etc. along with Infrastructural facilities such as Library & Departmental laboratories.

The committee appreciated the institute’s emphasis on quality education, modern teaching-learning methodologies, and continuous evaluation along with the Outcome-Based Education approach.

The committees interacted with & addressed all the stakeholders and were pleased with the feedback from parents, alumni, students, faculty members & non-teaching staff. The chairman of the committee Dr. Prof. D.S. Chauhan appreciated the passion & dedication of faculty members.

The CEO of the trust. Sanjeev Agrawal said, “S. B. Jain Institute of Technology, Management, and Research has always strived towards producing excellent quality of Engineers and the grant of Autonomy will surely help us to take our vision to the next level.”

The Principal Dr. Sanjay Badjate added, “with the flexibility of designing our own syllabus, the Institute will have the opportunity to introduce industry relevant skill-set in our students thereby promoting their overall development, and helping them become strong and focused technocrats. He also mentioned the opportunity of perusing degrees with Major and Minor specializations for students who wished to develop inter-disciplinary skills.
