In a desperate attempt to curb the rapid spread of the virus in the city Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has once again started ODD, EVEN system to control the crowd in the market places.
The order will be implemented for shops dealing with essential service. As per the new order shops involved with essential service in the markets falling under five zones will have to operate as per the direction on the dates fixed by the NMC.
Now shops will be opened on even and odd dates as per the entrance of the shops. NMC commissioner Radhakrishnan B issued an order in this regard on April 16.
This system will not applicable to other shops except for essential service. This order will come into force under NMC limit. It is worth mentioning that this system will not be applicable on medicine shops.
Earlier during the first Coronavirus wave the then NMC commissioner Tukaram Munde had also implemented odd and even system. It was protested strongly. But this decision has been taken in view of the crowd in the markets and citing the surge in daily cases.
NMC has prepared a list along with the names of shopkeepers. The rules should be followed.
Onion and Potato Shops
24 shops open on Wednesday and Thursday
23 shops will open on Saturday and Sunday
Mahatma Phule Vegetable Market
63 shops to function on Monday and Tuesday
60 shops to be open on Wednesday and Thursday
62 shops to be open on Saturday and Sunday

Shops in Golibari Square Marwari to Square, Juna Motor Stand Square to Ganjakhet and Golibari Square under Satranjipura Zone
Shops facing North and East direction to remain open on Even dates
Shops facing South and West direction will remain open on Odd dates
Mahatma Phule Vegetable Market under Dhantoli Zone,
Wholesale Dealers shops to remain Open from 4 am to 8 am
Potato and Onion Shops will remain open from 9 am to 12 pm. The shops will be opened along with numbers on fixed dates. Rest of the shops of essential service will remain open from 9 am to 7 pm.
Shops facing ‘North and East direction’ will remain ‘OPEN’ on EVEN Dates from RAMNAGAR SQUARE to LAXMI NAGAR SQUARE to TRAFFIC PARK ROAD and GOKULPETH MARKET Road under DHARAMPETH ZONE while ‘South and East facing shops’ will remain open on ODD dates.
Shops connected with essential service from INDORA SQUARE to PACHPAOLI POLICE STATION Road under the ASI NAGAR zone ‘NORTH and EAST direction’, will open on EVEN dates while shops facing ‘SOUTH and WEST direction’, will remain open on ODD dates.
Shops dealing with essential service in GOL BAZAR under MANGALWARI Zone will have to follow the same rules. In this, the shops whose entrance is towards ‘NORTH and EAST’ direction, will remain open on EVEN dates while shops facing ‘SOUTH and WEST’ direction, will remain open on ODD dates.
