Frustrated Chemists, Druggists willing to down their shutters

Frustrated Chemists, Druggists willing to down their shutters

About 9.40 lakh members of All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists have announced willingness to join the lockdown, along with other traders, during the Covid pandemic.

The announcement is an outcome of frustration of the members, due to restrictions imposed on them by the Government. They are neither declared Covid Worriers, not administered vaccines on priority, even when they are working during the lockdown.

President J S Shinde and general Secretary Rajiv Singhal of the Organisation has stated about 650 pharmacists fell victim to the new Corona virus in the last one year. Despite being pharmacists they could not easily get Remdesivir injection or Tocilizumab for them or their relatives. Many of them lost lives because of non-availabilityof these drugs in time. Similar restrictions have been imposed on Amphetoricin, required for treatment of black fungus.

The organization has expressed dissatisfaction over this step-motherly treatment to pharmacists imparted by the Government.

All the pharmacists have been put to hardships, because of only a few indulging in corrupt practice in sale of these medicines, the Organisation’s office bearers have alleged.

The pharmacists have not participated in any lockdown and have been making available all important medicines for the needy. However, they themselves are suffering as they are not getting life saving medicines for themselves or their relatives, because of Government’s policy.

The 9.40 lakh members have expressed willingness to participate in the lockdown, so that at least their lives will not be exposed to risk of the viral infection.
