IGNOU Admissions Started

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) admissions for more than 200 Programmes to the July 2021 session are open. Dr. P. Sivaswaroop, Regional Director of IGNOU, Nagpur said in a Press Meet that the last date to apply for the Online Admissions is 15th July 2021. The admissions are online and the interested learners can apply on IGNOU Portal https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/ . For Re-registration the Link is: https://onlinerr.ignou.ac.in/ and last date is 30th June 2021. The last date for submission of Re-registration Form, Assignments and Examination form is extended upto 30th June 2021.

He added that IGNOU starts new courses every Session, depending on need of the society. Some such courses are as follows:

Master of Arts in Urdu (MUD) is a 2 years programme open for any Graduate. The MUD programme exposes learners to a wide range of Urdu Language and Literature. It would be helpful in developing a sound understanding of Urdu Literature and also other literature as Arabic, Persian, English, Hindi and other New Literature. A good knowledge of reading comprehension and writing skills of Urdu would be a pre-requisite for this programme. IGNOU is already offering Certificate and Diploma in Urdu.

Master of Arts in Jyotish (MAJY) is a 2 years programme open for any Graduate. The purpose of the Master of Arts degree (Jyotish) program is to provide students with the knowledge available under Indian oriental science about time knowledge, planetary motion, solar eclipse, lunar eclipse to the happenings in space based on the opinions of Indian sages etc. MA in Sanskrit is also available in IGNOU.

Certificate in Gender, Agriculture and Sustainable Development (CGAS) is a 6 months programme open for any graduate. Women play a significant role in Indian agriculture from the sowing of seeds, harvesting crops and post-harvest value-addition. Due to gender inequalities in society, women lack ownership, access and control over resources and lack decision making. Gender inequality is inbuilt in our society due to patriarchy, so in all spheres of our lives, including agriculture. Subordination of women has become a way of life. With the changing pattern of agricultural activities and the mechanization of agriculture, women’s role in agriculture increased, especially among small and marginal farmers. Even though industrialization has changed agricultural activities, still women have more labour intensive farm activities such as weeding and harvesting.

Dr. Sivaswaroop stated that Due to COVID-19 conditions, IGNOU has increased the online activities. All the Admission process, Re-registration, Counselling Classes, exam form submission etc. are made online. The study material is also made available in Digital form under e-gyankosh. IGNOU offers fee concession, if students opt for Digital Study Material. Online classes are held through Gyan Darshan, Swayam Prabha, TV Channels, Gyan Vani Radio etc. During lockdown, the students are confined to houses and there is lot of communication gap between students and institution. To reduce this gap, IGNOU Nagpur Regional Centre conducts facebook live session every Sunday 5 pm with students. In addition, programme specific grievance redressal meetings are held with students concerned.

He stated that the District Collector, Nagpur has handed over the land for RC building at Omkar Nagar. Further process is going on and all efforts are being made to develop the RC building at the earliest. Dr. Sivaswaroop said that IGNOU thanks the continuous support and encouragement by Shri. Nitinji Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister and Government of Maharashtra in providing better services to IGNOU learners in Vidarbha.
