The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested a railway official red handed while accepting bribe.
The accused officer is identified as Akhilesh. Chaube, a senior division al mechanical engineer in the railways.
According to the avail able details, Chaube hadi blocked a contractor’s pay ment worth 1.7 lakh, and was demanding bribe of 10,000 for releasing the payment. The contractor contacted CBI Thursday. on
After preliminary inves tigation, superintendent of CBI unit Nirmala Devi ordered action against the official.
Accordingly a team of CBI followed the contrac tor to the Divisional Railway Manager’s office at around 2.30, and arrest ed Chaube as soon as he accepted 210,000 from the contractor:
