Physics, chemistry and math not mandatory for UG architecture course

According to the approval course of handbook for 2022–23 issued by the All India Council for Technical Training (AICTE), physics, chemistry, and algebra would not be required topics for admission to undergraduate programmes in structure.

The other two degrees that do not require PCM themes in school 12 are trend and packaging expertise.

Last year, the technical education regulator announced that pupils who did not study physics, chemistry, or math (PCM) in Class 12 would be unable to seek admission to engineering and specialised programmes, causing a huge controversy.

“We had formed a qualified group to provide admissions recommendations for which programmes PCM may be made optional.” Three programmes have been chosen based on the recommendations of the panel,” the AICTE stated.

Laptop science, electronics, data expertise, biology, informatics practises, biotechnology, technical vocational topic, agricultural, engineering graphics, enterprise research, and entrepreneurship are among the themes that are available for admittance within the three programmes, in addition to PCM.

From the upcoming academic session 2022-23, the AICTE has also decided that two extra places per course will be allotted for Covid–orphaned children covered under the ‘PM CARES’ scheme in all connected polytechnics.

The two-seat reservation per course will have no effect on other students because institutes admitting college students under this condition can increase their sanctioned consumption capacity by two.

“Such youngsters who are awarded ‘PM CARES certificates’ shall be eligible for admission in polytechnic establishments under the supernumerary quota,” according to the AICTE’s new approved process of action.

The programme covers all children under the age of 18 who lost both parents, surviving parents, legal guardians, or adoptive parents as a result of COVID–19 between March 3, 2020, when the WHO proclaimed and classified COVID-19 as a pandemic, and February 28, 2022.

The handbook stated, “The AICTE shall accord two supernumerary seats in its accepted establishments for empowering gifted and proficient college students to seek admissions towards these seats, which can present a motivating and distinctive alternative for such college students in accordance with NEP [National Education Policy] suggestions.”

“The AICTE shall develop rules for the collecting of gifted and proficient college students below the supernumerary quota, and the AICTE shall accept the last admission.”
